The Embera Panama Tour
This is a unique opportunity to learn about the Embera Tribe and enjoy the surroundings of the Alajuela Lake in the Chagres River.
The Embera tribe moved out from the Darien province to the area of the Chagres River about 4 miles upriver from the Alajuela Lake due to security and economic reasons. They stablished their community in 1975, they called it Embera Drua. Little by little families moved in to the Chagres area where they enjoy their simple lives with respect to the nature and themselves.

This people make a living from the tourism with the support of the panamanian authorities, who trained them for this matter. They also trade their crafts like basquets, necklaces, carvings, etc., very valued by tourists.
After you are driven to the dock called “Puerto Corotu” you will experience a wonderful ride of 45 minutes right to the Embera Village in a native Embera canoe that will relate to any National Geographic documentary. Don´t miss this wonderful experience!
